How to Choose the Right Barbell

• Bearings vs. bushings — Needle bearing bars offer faster, more precise sleeve rotation, making them ideal for Olympic lifting. Bushing bars are more affordable and suited to general strength training and powerlifting.
• Tensile strength — Higher PSI ratings mean the bar can handle heavier loads without permanent deformation. Look for 200,000+ PSI for serious training.
• Shaft diameter — 25mm bars suit Olympic lifting (women’s standard); 28–29mm bars are standard for men’s Olympic and powerlifting.
• Finish — Hard chrome and Cerakote offer excellent corrosion resistance for long-term durability.
• Weight rating — Match the bar’s rating to your training environment and load requirements.
